In 2002 another permanent exhibition of the District Museum in Rzeszów was opened, the Museum of the History of Rzeszów with collections connected with the history of the city. The Underground Tourist Route, part of the museum, is a major tourist attraction. The route comprises multi-level cellars and dungeons under the Old Town, reaching a depth of 10 metres and opened to visitors in the spring of 2001.
The underground network of cellars and dungeons connected by corridors stretches out under the Market Square and the adjacent streets and yards. Some of the tunnels probably extended beyond the borders of Rzeszów at the time they were built. The entrance to the Underground Tourist Route is at the Museum of the History of Rzeszów.
