The Rzeszów Philharmonic Hall, built in the years 1967–73, comprises a concert hall with an 800 seat amphitheatre-like auditorium, a small hall with 300 seats and several rehearsal rooms. The origins of the Philharmonic in Rzeszów go back to 1954 when a community symphonic orchestra was formed. Four years later it was transformed into the State Philharmonic Orchestra and in 1967 renamed the Artur Malawski Philharmonic, in honour of this well-known composer and conducting teacher from Przemyśl. The Rzeszów Philharmonic Orchestra, ranking among the best in Poland, performs at numerous venues in Poland and abroad, and participates in major festivals. The Orchestra’s oeuvre includes many recordings for radio and television, 7 CDs, including the acclaimed "Requiem" by Mozart and Rossini’s "Messa di Gloria", the second recording of this musical piece in the world.
Since 1962 the Rzeszów Philharmonic has organized the world-famous Music Festival in Łańcut. The beautiful interiors of the Potocki residence have set the scene for the performances of such eminent artists as Renata Scott, Paul Esswood, Teresa Żylis-Gara, Wiesław Ochman, Bella Dawidowicz, Konstanty Andrzej Kulka, as well as the chamber orchestra conducted by Jerzy Maksymiuk and the Trio Sankt Petersburg.
